Huawei has always geared its P-series of smartphones towards photography. And these devices have been absolutely dominating. The current generation of Huawei P30, headlined by the Huawei P30 Pro took the market by storm by its ingenious implementation of the telephoto lens.
Huawei is seeking to continue the same legacy with the next generation, Huawei P40. While we have traditionally seen two devices in the Huawei P-line (base model P and the Pro), this year we might see three. The Huawei P40 and P40 Pro and a third one called Huawei P40 Pro PE.
According to leaks, the beefier Huawei P40 Pro PE will sport a staggering 5 camera sensors at the back. The square-looking lens in the camera setup is the periscope lens. We saw a similar lens on last year’s Huawei P30 Pro. This is expected to bring support for up to 10x optical zoom.
The lenses on the other P40 devices, P40 Pro to be specific, are a 52-megapixel main lens, a 40-megapixel cine lens, a periscope zoom shooter and a 3D ToF (Time of Flight) sensor. We can only assume that the P40 Pro PE’s setup shouldn’t be too far from this.
At this time, we don’t know much in terms of specifications for this device. However, seeing as it is going to be one of Huawei’s flagships, we can assume that it will be powered by Kirin 990 5G. It might also feature the highest amount of RAM and the largest storage space in the P40 series.
According to tipster, Evan Blass, we should see the Huawei P40 series made official on March 26. This means we still have a good two months of leaks and speculation before the official unveiling.
