Huawei came up with the P30 series earlier this year. The P-series from the Chinese OEM are always more inclined towards providing users the best possible camera experience.

Previous year’s P20 and P20 Pro were brilliant in the camera department and they set a bar that was challenging for Huawei to beat. However, the company came around that pretty well with the P30 and P30 Pro.

On the other hand, the Chinese giant is facing a tussle with the U.S. government over trade ban. Call it a reaction, Huawei meanwhile announced the in-house replacement of Android called HarmonyOS.

However, they did not introduce the new OS on its recently launched Huawei Mate 30 series. But, they went ahead with using the Huawei Services Core meaning the Mate 30 series does not come with Google apps or services.

After such a bold move, Huawei is all geared up with the push of EMUI 10 for a truckload of compatible devices. Users are eager to get their hands on EMUI 10 as it packs in some cool new features like new UI, one-touch screen-sharing, dark mode, AOD (Always On Display) etc.

The devices were expected to get the EMUI 10 based on the Android 10 update by November. However, probably in line with this, the Huawei P30 and P30 Pro users have reported that a mysterious new update started to hit their device and get installed automatically.

This might be a preparatory system update that is preparing the Huawei P30/P30 Pro phones for the upcoming EMUI 10 update. FYI, OnePlus did a similar job before rolling out Android 10 based Open Beta for OnePlus 6/6T.

Check out the screenshot of the reaction shared by the users after receiving this mysterious OTA:

According to the owners of Huawei P30/P30 Pro, the update weighed less than 1 MB in size. Besides, it neither bumped the EMUI version number, nor changed the security patch level.

Interestingly, a new build of EMUI 9.1 based on September 2019 security patchset is available on Huawei update servers. However, the OTA has probably nothing to do with it.

Moreover, the update did not boot into recovery mode to install itself. After rebooting, the device showed a notification that the system was updated.

To recall, both Huawei P30 and P30 Pro got an EMUI 10 open beta update a few days back. However, with this update, both the devices are inching closer towards stable EMUI 10. We will keep you posted, once we have more information in this regard.
