Huawei has not been able to capture the position that Samsung has in the global smartphone market. Every time a new hurdle rises up whenever the going is smooth for the Chinese OEM.
For instance, the US trade ban hindered the expansion plan that Huawei had in mind. Besides, Google banning Huwaei from using its services did not help either.
However, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer did not fall back. They came up with the Huawei Mate 30 series devices that although runs on Android, did not use any of the Google services like Play Store, Maps, etc.
In fact, the company went to push the EMUI 10 updates based on the latest Android 10 for a lot of its compatible devices. The Chinese OEM is keeping up the pace in pushing security updates side by side.
And in a recent development, three Huawei phones i.e. Huawei P30 Lite, Huawei P10 & Mate 9 are receiving new incremental updates. All these updates enhance the system security of the devices. Let us take a look at the updates, one by one.
Huawei P30 Lite
Arriving with the version number V10.0.0.158, the update for Huawei P30 Lite weighs in around 610 MB in size. Notably, the Huawei P30 Lite in Europe has already been served with the EMUI 10 (Android 10) beta update.
Cut to now, the new update bumps the security patch level to December 2019 and is based on Android 10. Below is the official changelog along with the screenshot of the same:
Changelog:
– The update enhances the system with Android security patches.
Huawei P10
A new and fairly small update is also live for the Huawei P10 based on Android 9 Pie. According to the changelog, the update improves system security but under Settings, the security level still appears to be in July 2019.
Besides, it arrives with the same version number as previous i.e. V9.1.0.252 but changes the patch variant from “patch02” to “patch04“. It weighs a mere 21.25 MB in size.
Changelog:
– The update enhances the system with Android security patches.
Huawei Mate 9
Huawei Mate 9 which was launched in 2016, is also getting a new Pie based system update. It changes the version number of the device from MHA-L09 9.1.0.252(C432E7R1P8) to MHA-L29 9.1.0.252(C432E7R1P8patch03) and weighs in a nominal 21.22 MB in size.
It shares the same changelog as mentioned above for the Huawei P10. Interestingly the security patch level remains stuck at July 2019 even after upgrading with this update. Hence, it is unclear what all changes it brings in for the device.
Like always, the updates are pushed via OTA in batches. But, you can manually check for it by heading to System>>Software update>>Check for updates.
