[Updated] Huawei P20 Pro and Honor View 10 EMUI 9.1 update starts arriving outside of China

Just yesterday, it came to light that Huawei announced the EMUI 9.1 update rollout to as many as 10 devices in China. The list included names from both Huawei and Honor brands.

• Huawei Mate 10 Pro
• Huawei Mate 10 Porsche Design
• Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design
• Huawei P20
• Huawei P20 Pro
• Huawei nova 3
• Honor 10
• Honor V10 (sold as Honor View 10 globally)
• Honor Play

Well, of these 10 devices, we can now confirm that at least two phones are receiving the EMUI 9.1 update outside of China as well. The devices are Huawei P20 Pro and Honor View 10.

Let’s begin with the P20 Pro. The news about the Huawei P20 Pro EMUI 9.1 update came via a Reddit thread where-in a Malaysian user confirmed the update has arrived on their unit. Following are a couple of screenshots they shared:

So you can see the update carries a build number of 9.1.0.311, and weighs in at a whopping 4.02GB for the complete package.

Needless to say, key features of EMUI 9.1 including GPU Turbo 3.0 and EROFS are present as well. If you are Asia, and are waiting for the update, we suggest you try checking for the update through the HiCare app.

Moving on, the news about EMUI 9.1 for Honor View 10 came through a tweet.

As you can see in the screenshot below, the update carries a build number of 9.1.0.327, and weighs in at 3.82GB for the complete package.

The user who shared this news is apparently from India. They had earlier got a reply from Honor India that the roll out would begin July 22 onward, something which we also highlighted recently.

So that’s all about these devices. Among other Huawei/Honor phones, the Honor 8 Pro is expected to receive EMUI 9.1 starting July 26. In fact we have compiled a table for you containing whatever info we have from Honor India:

Huawei P20 Pro users in India are also getting the EMUI 9.1 update now, but with a slightly varied build number i.e. 9.1.0.320.

The July update reportedly trips SafetyNet for Huawei P20/P20 Pro, which renders Google Play unusable. P20 Pro also gets August security patch. Details here.

P20 Pro users in Saudi Arabia are also reportedly getting the EMUI 9.1 update.

P20 Pro users in the UK region are also reportedly receiving EMUI 9.1.
