Huawei announced its first foldable smartphone – the Huawei Mate X – in February 2019. But like its closest rival and also the first foldable smartphone from Samsung, the Galaxy Fold, Huawei’s foldable had to wait for months before becoming available to purchase.

Fans had to wait until November 2019 to get their hands on the Mate X. All this time, Huawei was working on improving the overall design of the device as fears of durability mounted following the Galaxy Fold debacle.

Unfortunately, Huawei went against stepping up the initial software that launched with the Mate X from EMUI 9.0 based on Android 9 Pie to the latest version available at the time of its availability – EMUI 10 based on Android 10.

Instead, the device stuck with the same base OS and a slightly improved EMUI 9.1 when it started selling late last year. But despite its hefty price tag, the Mate X EMUI 10 update wasn’t among the first to be considered by the company.

But as it stands, the wait is finally over. Confirmed reports coming from China reveal that the Mate X Android 10 update is now up for grabs.

Apparently, the incoming Mate X EMUI 10 update is targeting both beta and non-beta testers of Android 10. In the case of the former, the OTA is coming in as version 10.0.1.115, up from the most recent beta version 10.0.1.110.

For non-beta testers, your Mate X must be running on EMUI 9.1.1.153 in order to receive the OTA update to EMUI 10. But as usual, the rollout is staggered, meaning some people will get it ahead of others.
