Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design starts getting October security update before EMUI 10

Approaching the end of quite a busy year, Huawei has still a lot of tasks left at hand. Moreover, the brand is busy pushing out the EMUI 10 updates for its compatible devices.

In fact, a lot of devices have already received the EMUI 10 update which is based on Android 10. Side by side, Huawei is also serving its devices with timely security updates.

And in a recent development, Huawei has pushed in a new security update for the Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design. Sadly, the update brings in the October 2019 patchset on top of EMUI 9.1. Yes, this is not the major update you’re looking for.

What’s more surprising is that the last security update that the Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design received was the August patchset. However EMUI 10 (Android 10) beta recruitment for this phone went live in China back in October.

To recall, the Mate RS Porsche Design was launched back in April 2018, and packs in Kirin 970, 6 GB of RAM, a 4,000 mAh battery, offers 256/512 GB of onboard storage, sports a 6-inch OLED display with an in-display fingerprint scanner.

In the camera department, it houses a triple camera setup with 40 MP primary lens, while you get a 24 MP selfie camera. The device also supports fast-charging up to 22.5W.

Now coming back to this latest update, it bumps the version number of the Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design from 9.1.0.313 to 9.1.0.316 and weighs in a massive 3.89 GB in size considering it is purely incremental in nature. So, we would recommend you to download the update via a stable internet connection.

Note that the updates on both the devices are being pushed via OTA and will take some time in hitting all the units. Though you can always manually check for it by heading to Apps > System > Software update. Tap the Check for Update.
