Recently it was in news that Huawei plans to release EMUI 9.1 to Huawei Mate 20 series’ devices sometime during this week. And looks like the OEM has already started pushing the updates at least to Huawei Mate 20 X, Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20 devices.

Huawei Mate 20 X is the Chinese OEM’s 2018 high-end phone fueled with HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset. The phone comes with Android 9.0 Pie layered with EMUI 9.0 out of the box. It has a 7.2 inches display, and embraces a triple rear (40MP+8MP+20MP) and 24MP selfie camera.

Going by the latest information that is coming from Huawei Mate 20 X users on Reddit, the device is now receiving EMUI 9.1 update. Apart from the latest EMUI version, the update also brings a lot of new features and functionalities.

Key highlights are the Moon mode for enhanced photography, Game Turbo 3.0 for better gaming experience and video ringtones for specific contacts. The newly added EROFS technology will improve system performance and stability. Also, one-touch music videos will be available now.

EMUI 9.1 update bears build number 9.1.0.300 (C636E3R2P1) and weighs about 4GB. Here’s a user shared image of the update changelog on Honor Mate 20 X:

Apart from Huawei Mate 20 X, Mate 20 Pro is also receiving EMUI 9.1. Mate 20 Pro is part of the OEM’s Mate 20 series, but has a 6.3 inches display screen instead.

As for other specification, just like Mate 20 X, Mate 20 Pro is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC and and it comes with Android Pie layered with EMUI 9.0. The currently rolling out EMUI 9.1 update on the device bears build number 9.1.0.300 (C432E10R1P16).

And the changelog is quite similar to that of Huawei Mate 20 X.

Moving on, Huawei Mate 20 users have also confirmed the EMUI 9.1 update. It’s yet another HiSilicon Kirin 980 processor device that comes with Android Pie and EMUI 9.0. The triple rear camera resolution varies as it is 12MP+8MP+16MP, unlike that of Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20 X.

Going by user shared information, the update is coming via the HiCare app and at least the devices in the UK, UAE, Hungary, Germany and Singapore region are receiving it. As is the case with staged rollouts, the update may take time to make it to all Huawei units. So hang in tight.

Update 1 (August 5)

Huawei Mate 20 X is now getting the July security update which reportedly fixes EMUI 9.1 instigated crashes and playback audio issues. Complete coverage here.
