Despite having a really heavy skinned version of Android, Huawei is surprisingly fast in case of delivering Android 10 update to its product portfolio. The Chinese telecom giant already started pushing stable(-escrow) builds of EMUI 10 for P30 and Mate 20 series across the globe.
The company also published a tentative roadmap of this massive rollout process. The timeline includes both Huawei and Honor branded devices. Most of them are supposed to get the Android 10 update, either in stable or in public beta format, within this month (November).
Talking about legacy flagships, i.e. the Huawei Mate 10 family, they are (unsurprisingly) part of the roster – thanks to Huawei’s in-house silicon development. Matter of fact, the OEM began recruiting beta testers for the whole Mate 10 lineup during September.
Interestingly, Huawei also offered a separate beta testing initiative around the same time. It was based on Pie based EMUI 9.1 though.
Nevertheless, the EMUI 10/Android 10 update is now available as open beta for the following phones:
- Huawei Mate 10
- Huawei Mate 10 Pro
- Huawei Mate 10 Porsche Design
- Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design
- Huawei P20
- Huawei P20 Pro

Regarding Huawei P20/P20 Pro, the recruitment was started in October. Apart from the Chinese variants, global units are also eligible for the beta testing.
At the time of writing this article, the official announcement thread is live, but the access is restricted. Huawei has also published the problem reporting guidelines in device specific sub-forums (example), thus the rollout should be imminent.
All these phones are powered by HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC. Some of them were launched with Android 8.0 Oreo, and received the Pie update via EMUI 9.1 OTA earlier this year.
Huawei backported several features like EROFS and GPU Turbo 3.0 via EMUI 9.1. A little extrapolation confirms that EMUI 10 exclusive functionalities, especially the AI capabilities, will soon land on both Mate 10 and P20 lineup.
The current rollout is limited to China, but global builds should be available soon. Stay tuned!
