[Rolls out in Europe & North America too] HTC U11 Android Pie (9.0) update rollout resumes

HTC U11 is the Taiwanese OEM’s high-end device that was released in 2017. Fueled by Snapdragon 835, the phone shipped with Android 7.1 Nougat layered with HTC’s skin Sense UI. In the launch year itself, the device was further upgraded to Android Oreo in Taiwan, followed by other regions later.

Back in May, HTC announced Android Pie’s schedule on HTC U11, U11+ and U12+ devices.

We want to share the release schedule of the Android Pie updates for #HTC smartphones. Please note, certain regions & carrier deployment may affect these dates. U11 rollout will begin late May, 2019; U11+ will begin late June, 2019; U12+ will begin mid-June, 2019.

While the company planned to deliver Pie on HTC U11 phones by May end, the update landed with a slight delay in the beginning of this month. But the device finally received its second major Android OS update in form of Android Pie.

Apart from Pie, the firmware update (bearing build number 3.22.709.2) on HTC U11 brought along system enhancements and confirmed the removal of Google+ from BlinkFeed (considering the service was terminated by Google a couple of months back).

But before all HTC U11 devices could get to taste the much awaited Android OS dessert, the company confirmed the rollout had to be suspended due to some reason. Here’s what they said:

The current update is suspended! And have already conveyed the situation after the return of the update, to the internal understanding, please follow up later, thank you!

While many HTC U11 users were already disappointed for not getting hands on the update, in between all this, HTC Japan came up with an updated statement on the matter conveying the Pie updates on U11 and U12+ have been pushed further.

That was the picture so far.

As of today, surprisingly, Android Pie’s rollout on HTC U11 has been resumed. Going by the official announcement, the new update (weighs more than 1GB) bears a slightly tweaked build number 3.22.709.3. The changelog is however, still the same as it was in case of the first update.

Software Update: 3.22.709.3 (1.37 GB) This system update will contain a number of important improvements:
– Android 9.0 Pie
– Enhanced overall system functionality
– Remove Google+ from Blinkfeed in response to Google turning off Google+

Presumably the OEM fixed whatever bugs plagued the earlier build, and has come up with a new update. Following are some user shared images of the changelog:

Going by reports coming from those who’ve got the firmware in the first wave, things appear to be stable. As is usually the case with updates, this one will also be rolled out in batches, so may take time to hit all HTC U11 units. So hang in tight, as you may get to see the notification anytime now.

NOTE: Those of you who were facing PIN code or graphic unlocking error after installing v3.22.709.2, the company suggests you to visit their service centers for further assistance.
