Update (December 12):
While the anti-Semitic shout out controversy fire isn’t doused yet, something else from PewDiePie’s video is now making headlines: the comment Felix made on SonicFox’s acceptance speech at the 2018 Game Awards for winning the Best Esports Player. Details here.
Update (December 12):
PewDiePie landed in hot water after he endorsed a YouTube channel that contains videos featuring anti-Semitic content. The Verge was the first publication to highlight this news. Now PewDiePie has responded to the controversy by attacking The Verge. Details here.
Original story follows:
Pornhub, the Canada based pornography site which is one of the largest of its kind on the Internet, has played some smart moves in the past one month. The way the company responded to two of the biggest developments in tech space in the last 30 days speaks volumes about their management.
PiunikaWeb was the first publication to bring to light Tumblr issues – including missing iOS app – in mid-November. That episode culminated on December 03, when Tumblr announced a blanked ban on everything NSFW (save for some exceptions).
Pornhub took no time in welcoming affected Tumblr users with open arms. Here’s the tweet they sent out the very next day:

They also made it clear that creators can earn revenue off their art, and also replied to related concerns from users.

Although there’s no official information on this, given their brand value in the adult content market, it’s reasonable to say a significant number of users would have fallen for the proposal.
Even if the number is not very big, getting new users with just one tweet is definitely smart. Just goes to show how much a small step can be of help when taken at the correct time.
Pornhub then turned their attention to the ongoing T-Series vs PewDiePie YouTube subscriber battle. At the time when the #subscribetopewdiepie campaign was at its peak (it’s still maintaining the momentum though), they sent out a tweet asking their followers to subscribe to PewDiePie.
Subscribe to @pewdiepie to beat T-series here: https://www.pornhub.com/users/officialpewdieporn…
As can be seen in the screenshot above, the link they inserted in the tweet was to a Pornhub profile called OfficialPewDiePiePorn. The subscriber count of that profile has grown over the days. And this fan-made video of Pornhub coming to PewDiePie rescue Saving Private Ryan style would have been cherry on cake for the company.
Pornhub was also in news recently when they came up with a clever new SFW idea after Starbucks imposed a porn ban for users on their WiFi network. Here’s part of the statement from Corey Price, VP, Pornhub.
To comply with Starbucks’ new policy, we’ve created an option that allow fans to still enjoy great content to which they are accustomed, but that is appropriate for consumption in public places
Smartly latching on to business opportunities and coming up with clever responses always gives a company good PR, and Pornhub has managed to achieve that in recent times.
PiunikaWeb is a unique initiative that mainly focuses on investigative journalism. This means we do a lot of hard work to come up with news stories that are either ‘exclusive,’ ‘breaking,’ or ‘curated’ in nature. Perhaps that’s the reason our work has been picked by the likes of Forbes, Foxnews, Gizmodo, TechCrunch, Engadget, The Verge, Macrumors, and more. Do take a tour of our website to get a feel of our work. And if you like what we do, stay connected with us on Twitter (@PiunikaWeb) and other social media channels to receive timely updates on stories we publish.
