It’s true! A bezel-less display looks ravishing. If you place a phone with bezel-less screen next to one with considerable chin and forehead, your aesthetic sense will never let you to pick the latter. That’s why OEMs keep on maximising the screen-to-body ratio.

And, it resulted in notches, pop-up cameras, and even on-screen fingerprint scanners. Brands found out ways to minimise the bezels without sacrificing much. That’s great, obviously! But what about notification LEDs?

Take OnePlus for example! Starting from OnePlus 6T, they have omitted notification light, in an attempt to increase the screen real estate. The company believed that ambient display had negated the need for notification LEDs. That clearly wasn’t the case, though.

The users started missing the tiny light more often than not. Although there are third-party tools available to sense notification arrivals, none of them outperforms the actual hardware. That’s how OnePlus 7 Pro got Horizon Light feature.

For starters, it’s the firm’s in-house attribute to let the users know of new notifications. And, enabling it will light up the sides of the display so that one can perceive the handset got a new notification.

Unfortunately, things didn’t turn out the way the Shenzhen vendor expected. Many had bad experiences with the new feature. We already have a report on the faulty Horizon Light on OnePlus 7 Pro with the concerns from actual consumers.

Guess what! Even the OnePlus 7T Pro isn’t devoid of the same glitch. Given it’s another generation and receives separate OTA builds, the identical issue shouldn’t have happened. Let’s have a look at a few pleas from the users.

I’ve been using my new 7t pro for a few days, and cannot make the horizon light work at all.
I have everything turned on in the “ambient display” section (see screenshot), but the horizon light does not ever come on, for notifications or otherwise.
Does anyone else have this issue? Any solutions?
