Huawei adorns second position in the list of top selling smartphone companies. For the budget segment, they have a sub-brand named Honor. It is the company’s Redmi opponent.

Huawei and Xiaomi users don’t really bat their eyes on major Android updates. Both EMUI and MIUI upgrades, despite the Android version, bring significant changes to the platform. However, monthly security patches are paramount for them as they are for any other user.

A few days ago, the OEM started rolling out EMUI 9.1 for Huawei Y9 (2019). Brought along with the update is EROFS system function, which improves app speed and fluidity.

Recently, they managed to release a new update for Mate 20 Pro too. Circulated with the build number 9.1.0.310, it introduced instant projection, DC dimming, and smart display support. Just days before that, the same device received July security patch with stability improvements.

The tech fraternity has become sensible now. Users started noticing the frequency with which manufacturers release OTAs for their phones. That’s what impelled Huawei to top the gear in terms of releasing security patches.

Given myriads of devices made by the company, there are many waiting in the queue to receive EMUI 9.1. Honor 8A users do not have to stay on toes anymore, as the OEM has now untied the update for the device, which is known as Honor Play 8A in China.

The build number of the new package is 9.1.0.234. Weighing 2.01 GB, the update will exhaust significant amount of your data. So, you will have to be equipped with proper data plan (or even better WiFi) and battery juice before initiating the update process.

However, instead of the latest Android security, this one houses the not so latest July patch. You can see the changelog below. Yeah, it’s a bit lengthy and fetches more than stability enhancement. That’s it. Not GPU Turbo 3.0, EROFS support and ARK Compiler like EMUI 9.1s on other Honor phones.

We have said it before. And, we will say it again. All Honor 8A/Play 8A devices may not get the EMUI 9.1 update at once. That doesn’t mean your phone is corrupted. Wait for a day or two. It will finally hit your Honor 8A. For more Huawei related stories, you can click here.
