A few days ago, we talked about Honor 8C – an entry level mid-range phone launched in Q4 2018 – which may face early abandonment from the maker. Although Honor 10 Lite was released around the same time, it did secure Android Pie based EMUI 9.1 update during the first week of August.

Powered by HiSilicon Kirin 710 SoC, the ‘Lite’ variant of Honor 10 sports a dual (13 + 2 MP) rear camera setup along side a 24 MP selfie camera. The 6.21 inches LCD screen also houses a circular notch for the front camera module.

The whole package is powered by a handsomely large 3,400 mAh battery, although Huawei/Honor opted for dated microUSB port to cut some corners. Moreover, the phone did not get features like EROFS or GPU Turbo 3.0 with the EMUI 9.1 update.

Time for some marketing gibberish

Nevertheless, the Indian edition of Honor 10 Lite (model number: HRY-AL00) is now getting a new incremental OTA. The build number is 9.1.0.267, a minor jump from the original EMUI 9.1 based update (9.1.0.263).

The size of this OTA is merely 102 MB, as it packs nothing but August security patches. We are not sure whether Honor has any plan at all to bring EROFS and GPU Turbo 3.0 for this phone.

FYI, the regular Honor 10 also received the August patch nearly a week ago. For some reason, Huawei pushed the full sized (~4 GB) update package for Honor 10, which was a hard call for users with limited internet connectivity.

Talking about smaller updates, another Honor phone is reportedly getting the taste of August security patches via a 140 MB incremental OTA. We are talking about none other Honor View 20 – the budget flagship with a punch hole display.

A few weeks ago, the phone received Magic UI 2.1 (based on EMUI 9.1) update with July security patches. Unlike Honor 10 Lite, the massive OTA did bring truckload of features such as Huawei Vlog, GPU Turbo 3.0 as well as EROFS.

We got a hint about the existence of August security update for Honor View 20 during the first week of August. Matter of fact, our speculated build is now hitting some units as the brand new monthly update.

Thanks to the staged rollout model, the updates may not get immediately visible on your Honor 10 Lite or Honor View 20. Good luck for smashing the ‘Check for updates’ button! ?
