Samsung Galaxy S11 & Note 10 Lite will reportedly feature gigantic batteries

As we are approaching towards 2020, the amount of speculations around the Galaxy S11 lineup is getting monumental. We have seen more and more leaks of the next generation Galaxy series in the past few days, including the battery details.

According to the leaks, the Samsung Galaxy S11 is expected to have a battery with model number EB-BG985ABY. This battery is said to be a derivation of the EB-BN975ABU, the cell that powers the Galaxy Note 10+.

This cell, EB-BG985ABY, has a rated capacity of 4,370 mAh and a typical capacity of 4,500 mAh. On the other hand, the ‘Plus’ variant of Galaxy S11 should feature a much larger battery – a gigantic 5,000 mAh!

This info came from GalaxyClub.nl, who discovered the following entry in the South Korea’s SafetyKorea database:

In a similar manner, the existence of EB-BG985ABY is confirmed via the same database. Thanks to the SamMobile guys, we now know that the typical capacity of this module is 4,500 mAh and it should be placed inside the regular Galaxy S11.

The cell with model number EB-BN770ABY has also been spotted on the same website. According to NashvilleChatterClass.com, it also has a capacity of 4,500 mAh. This effectively means that the Galaxy Note 10 Lite will spot the same battery capacity as both the Note 10+ and the Galaxy S11.

That is a surprisingly huge cell for a ‘Lite’ device. Traditionally, phone makers have three tiers of devices. There is often a base model, then there is a beefed-up model, often tagged as ‘Pro’ or ‘Plus’. Then there is a watered-down version of the base model with less powerful internals, named as ‘Lite’.

Galaxy Note 10 Lite seems to be defying that trend with this leak. However, where it falls in line with the ‘Lite’ stereotype is the price. If everything stays as leaked, we might see this as the budget friendly Note in a long time.
