First generation 4G phones were bulky as well as full of battery related issues. Phone makers had to release tons of bugfix updates as the sole objective to tune up the power-hungry cellular modem. Guess what, we are now experiencing the same scenario with the 5G phones.
Call it a direct aftereffect, as the 5G variants fail to attract the same level of importance as their regular 4G counterparts. We discussed about the delays in software updates in case of OnePlus 7 Pro 5G. In fact, there is still no sign of stable Android 10 update for this phone although OnePlus 7 (Pro) got it already.
Samsung, on the other hand, is doing a remarkable job with the 5G variants of Galaxy Note 10 lineup. The OEM is delivering the software updates for them almost simultaneously with the LTE models. The latest September security patch (along with an incremental bugfix OTA) was rolled out on both variants in sync.
Well, not the Exynos (global) version anymore. After shipping the September patch for Snapdragon powered AT&T and Verizon Galaxy Note 10 family, the 5G edition of Galaxy Note 10+ on the big red carrier is getting the newest update.
Tagged as ‘System Update 1’, the build number of the new OTA is exactly same (ASHB) as the Verizon Galaxy Note 10/Note 10+ update. The bootloader version remains v1.
As you can see, the changelog provided by Verizon is pretty generic. However, the Chinese Snapdragon Galaxy Note 10+ 5G (SM-N9760) is also getting the September update. The build number is different (ASI5) and we do have an elaborate changelog for that.

Let’s hope Samsung will continue the same pace and offer Android 10 based One UI 2.0 update for the entire Galaxy Note 10 family without too much delay.
