Samsung Galaxy M30 November security update up for grabs, Galaxy A50s also picks the same

For a long time, Samsung used to represent everything that is wrong with the Android ecosystem. Poorly or half-baked skins slapped on top of vanilla Android, and software that rarely got updated. But that has since changed.

Today, Samsung is one of the best performing OEM in terms of updates. The Korean phone maker regularly pushes out both security patches and operating system updates. Of course, phone makers like Essential or Nokia will outdo everyone else but still, Samsung is doing well.

Keeping up with this trend, the company is rolling out the November Android security patch to two of the mid-rangers. Let’s take a look at them.

Galaxy M30

Part of Samsung’s affordable M-series of smartphones, Galaxy M30 is powered by Samsung’s in-house Exynos 7904 chipset. The humongous 5,000 mAh battery is a worthy addition to the typical mediocre specs. And now, the SM-M305F model of it is getting November patch in India.

The update can be identified by its BSK1 software version and weighs in at a rather small 124 MB. It’s changelog doesn’t allude to much else, other than the improved device security that is almost generic to all monthly Android security patch updates.

In the past, the Galaxy M30 has been well updated. It received the quarterly security updates from Samsung, along with the likes of the Galaxy J6 and S7 family.

Galaxy A50s

Also getting updated to the November Android security patch level is the Samsung Galaxy A50s. The A50s has got to be one of the more popular Samsung Galaxy A-series devices.

The Samsung Galaxy A50s is a slight refresh to the Samsung Galaxy A50. Apart from the SoC (Exynos 9611 in A50s versus 9610 in A50), the former sports a 48 MP primary rear camera.

The update that is going out to the Indian Galaxy A50s (model number SM-A507F) brings the software version number to ASK5. Its changelog is equally generic. It goes to improve system security.

Android 10

Android 10 has been available for some time now. Samsung is also rolling out stable Android 10 to the Galaxy S10 lineup in some regions.

However, the flagships aren’t the only ones that will be getting updated. For example, both the Galaxy M30 and the Galaxy 50s are scheduled to get the update in the coming months.

At this moment, there is no sign of beta testing initiative for the non-flagship devices like the Galaxy A/M lineup. It is unclear whether Samsung is planning to push the stable update directly to them or will come up with a shirt beta later on.
