Samsung Galaxy Fold Android 10 update not coming anytime soon as Pie-based February security patch goes live

Google is the only Android vendor that rolls out major software updates to all devices in one go regardless of their price points. Samsung, among others, rolls out Android OS updates to the current premium Galaxy S and Note devices before turning attention elsewhere.

This has always been the case for years and nothing changed with Android 10. The Galaxy S10 and Note 10, the current flagship phones, got a taste of the One UI 2.0 update ahead of everyone else, not only through the beta program, but also the stable version.

The OS has since rolled out to their immediate predecessors, the Galaxy Note 9, Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. Somewhere along the way, though, Samsung even managed to spare some time to surprise Galaxy M20 and M30 owners with an update to Android 10.

All this while, nothing much was being said about the Galaxy Fold Android 10 update. Going by its price tag, Samsung’s foldable phone ought to be among the first to receive the One UI 2.0 upgrade. But to date, not even a beta version is available.

According to Samsung, the Galaxy Fold Android 10 update will arrive in April 2020. However, there have been reports of a possible availability in March or even this month, which would be a welcome idea.

But if the latest developments are anything, the Galaxy Fold Android 10 update isn’t coming anytime soon, at least not this month. Samsung is already rolling out the latest February security patch to the device based on Android Pie.

Arriving as software version F900FXXS3ATA3, the update has been spotted in France and should spread to more regions where the device is sold in the coming weeks. It also bumps the bootloader version from v2 to v3.
