Talk about innovation and bringing in new features nowadays, and you will find Samsung on that list for sure. The company is always trying to stay ahead of every other OEM in terms of new technology and innovation.
The by-product of Samsung’s vision of the future is the Galaxy Fold smartphone. It was one of the first foldable devices that actually went on sale for the public.
But soon after its launch, it fell prey to the “broken-screen” fiasco which was reported by many users as well as tech-reviewers. This made the company call back all the ordered Galaxy Fold devices back.
The Galaxy Fold was under strict supervision and the company was doing it all for fixing the device. And eventually, the Galaxy Fold resurfaced the smartphone world after being tweaked to avoid the screen issue.
Now it has been over a couple of months since the device is now available for public and since then, no issues have crept up surrounding the device. Moreover, Samsung has put in the Galaxy Fold under the “Current Models for Monthly Security Updates” category.
And in a recent development, the 5G variant of Galaxy Fold is receiving a new security update. It brings in the October 2019 security patch along with all the Galaxy Note 10 specific camera features.
Talking about the update, it carries the version number ASJ5 and weighs in around 510.17 MB. So, make sure that you download this update on a stable internet connection.
Below is the official changelog and the screenshot of the update:
What’s new
• A new Camera function has been added: Live focus, Live Focus video, AR Doodle, Night, Super steady
• Improved performance – Video Editor
Notably, this update bumps the security patch level of the device from August to October. But, the 5G Galaxy Fold was a bit late in receiving this update as its 4G variant has already been served with a similar update.
For the 4G variant, the update weighs about 379.03 MB. Besides, 5G variant gets the same changelog as the 4G one. Moreover, looking at the discussion on Reddit, many users have reported that they have started receiving the October update on their Galaxy Fold 5G in different regions.
If you have not received the update on your device then, you head to Settings>>Software update>>Download and install to check for the update manually.
Happy installing!
