Chinese smartphone maker Vivo (owned by BBK electronics) recently added a new selfie-centric bird to their existing lineup of smartphones – Vivo S1 (aka vivo Y7s for China). Fueled by Mediatek Helio P65 processor, the phone is shipped with Android Pie with the OEM’s in-house Funtouch 9 on top.
Launched first in China, followed by India, under the hood the phone packs a 6.38-inch Super AMOLED display, 4,500 mAh battery with18W fast charge support, triple rear camera setup (16MP main shooter+8MP secondary sensor+2MP depth sensor), a 32MP selfie camera & water-drop notch.
Available in two shades – Skyline Blue and Diamond Black – and two variants – 128GB storage+4GB RAM and 128GB storage+8GB RAM – the device is get-at-able from channels like Flipkart, Amazon as well as Vivo India’s official online e-store.
Leaving the specs part aside, the phone debuted in Indian market couple of weeks back and is now getting its first firmware update. The patch weighs about 350MB and bumps the version to PD1913F_EX_A_1.6.17.
As for changes, the update improves fingerprint recognition (probably offering a faster device unlock rate), fixes the problem of excessive power consumption by third-party apps, enhances the compatibility of WiFi networks and also improves camera performance.
As is usually the case with firmware updates, they’re rolled out in phases, so the currently circulating update on Vivo S1 may also take time to reach all devices in India. So hang in tight, as you may get to see th update notification pop-up at any point of time now. Happy installing!
