FaceApp server down and not working? App not processing photos for many, gives 'something went wrong' error

Trying to use the trending photo editing app FaceApp and getting to see “Something went wrong, Please try again” or “The operation couldn’t be completed (ApiRequestError error 6)” notification instead?

FaceApp blocking users in some regions? Well, that’s what at least some users are speculating.

FaceApp, as most of you may know by now, is an app (available on both iOS and Andorid platforms) that – among other things – lets you edit a picture and apply age filters and see how you may look years later. Apparently, that’s what got the app going viral overnight.

Going by reports populating the social media platforms, FaceApp when accessed from Android is throwing the something went wrong error, however in case of iOS it says the operation couldn’t be completed.

For now, the problem looks specific to app users in India, which has got them to speculate a block in the region. Here’s what some of the complainants have to say:

Those who have given a try say it works fine when a VPN is used.

So as a workaround, you can try accessing the FaceApp service after installing a VPN. In case you try this, you need to first close the app, then activate the VPN, and then launch the app again.

Keep in mind that this workaround may or may not work for you. But yes, there’s no harm in giving it a try anyway. In the meantime, we are in a look out for more info on the matter and will update the story as and when get hands on it.

Swapping gender, changing hair style and color, playing with makeup (evening or day), getting tattoos, switching age, different beard and mustache styles, adding a smile are the functionalities this app offers.
