With the advancement of technology, the security meant for protecting the data has also seen rapid changes. Moreover, with smartphones becoming an important part of our life, it is necessary to have an enhanced security system.

OEMs have been embedding various security features for their devices like the 3D Face Unlock, fingerprint scanner, etc. In fact, Google also introduced strict privacy and security feature with its latest iteration of the Android OS, the Android 10.

Besides, giving a complete overhaul to the UI and design elements of the Android UI, Google has improved security enhancements by allowing users to choose which data they want to share with the app specifically.

But, what’s more, surprising is that the Smart Lock’s Trusted Face unlock feature has been removed with the Android 10 updates. Reportedly, the feature has been verified to be removed from OnePlus, Samsung and Nokia phones.

trusted face unlock gone

Notably, the Trusted Face unlock feature was introduced back in 2014 and was accessible from Settings >> Security >> Smart Lock >> Trusted face for Android 9 Pie thus far.

The reason behind the removal of the Trusted Face unlock option as stated by Androidpolice, is that Smart Unlock was never a part of the firmware and was under Google Play Services control.

Besides, Trusted places, Trusted voice, and On-body detection features were all added via a Play Services update. Thus making it likely to be removed with a new update.

In fact, users of Nokia smartphones running on Android 10 have also reported that this feature is missing from their devices after the Android 10 update.

Owners of Nokia 7.1, 7 PlusNokia 8.1, 6.1 Plus, etc have reported this issue on various platforms. You can check out their comments below:
