Although I personally do have a bias towards Xiaomi for their irresistible price-performance ratio, MIUI is certainly not my cup of tea! I am using Mi and Redmi phones since the days of Redmi 1S, but the first thing I do is to replace MIUI with a vanilla Android distribution like LineageOS.

Mi A1: First Xiaomi phone with stock Android

2017 was remarkable for the fans of the Chinese OEM, as the company finally decided to bite the bullet and rebrand one of their MIUI-laden phone (Mi 5X to be precise) under Android One initiative. The result was Mi A1, and it was a phenomenal success.

Despite receiving frequent backslashes from the user communities regarding the quirks and ad-infestation in MIUI, Xiaomi doesn’t (rather can’t) ditch their in-house skinned version of Android due to the factor of revenue generation.

However, they continue their collaboration with Android One scheme, as the newest member in the roster came out just a few days ago. Mi A3, which is a rebranded version of Mi CC9e, is now officially available in Spain.

Considering Mi A3 specs, the Snapdragon 665 SoC powered phone is backed by a large 4,030 mAh battery. The triple rear camera setup consists of a 48 MP primary sensor, paired with a 8 MP ultrawide and 2 MP depth sensors. The selfie camera is bumped to 32 MP, but the 720p display seems a downgrade from Mi A2.

The phone has also been released in Ukraine, while the Malaysian debut on July 31 is confirmed as well. Now we can safely speculate the imminent release of Mi A3 in India, as the phone appears on the RF Exposure certification list of Xiaomi India website.

According to the listing, the M1906F9SI model is going to come to India in near future, with the SAR limit of 1.6 W/kg (over 1 g). In head, the radiation level is 0.527 W/kg, while it is 0.722 W/kg for the torso (when measured from 15 mm distance).

An exact date of Mi A3 India release is still unknown to us, but at least now fans should start counting. Are you planning to buy the phone or prefer to wait for a rumored higher edition, i.e. Mi A3 Pro? Comment below.
