After as series of teasers (and some fake leaks!), the first set of phones from the newly announced Mi CC series is here. Xiaomi launched 3 phones, namely Mi CC9, Mi CC9e and Mi CC9 Meitu Edition.

The special Meitu Edition is based on the regular Mi CC9, but the RAM and storage configurations are fixed at 8 GB/256 GB. Although the camera sensors remain unchanged between two models, the premium class variant comes with enhanced software based processings.

The highlight of Mi CC9 Meitu Edition is its unique AI low-light portrait feature that allows users to take beautiful, high-quality portraits in almost zero ambient light. This feature uses Meitu’s unique AI beautify technology and Meitu’s single frame depth acquisition technology to accommodate a wide variety of scenes. Even under extreme low-light conditions where it is difficult to see, the device can still extract facial features and produce a brilliantly detailed selfie thanks to depth acquisition technology.

For now, the phones are only available in China. There is a high chance that the Mi CC9 series will be rebranded as the third generation Android One phones (Mi A3/A3 Lite) from Xiaomi.

Thanks to a friend, we now have our hands on the firmware dump of both Mi CC9 (codename: pyxis) and Mi CC9 Meitu Edition (codename: vela). As a result, you can now download the CC9 exclusive wallpapers on your phone.

Of course they won’t look very impressive due to the compression. To get the untouched high definition wallpapers (as well as ringtones and boot animations), download the full package from here (Mi CC9) and here (Mi CC9 Meitu Edition).

The codename of Mi CC9e (‘e’ signifies the budget variant, just like Samsung) is ‘laurus’, while the Android One variant of the same phone should carry the codename ‘laurel’. The early leak from XDA-Developers are quite inline with the final result, aren’t it?

Special thanks to Kacper Skrzypek (aka kacskrz) for sharing the dump!
