The mysterious new coronavirus (aka Wuhan coronavirus) has been spreading in China has got Apple worried. Going by reports, the coronavirus outbreak in China could push forward the launch of the iPhone 9 (or iPhone SE 2). There have been more than 100 deaths due to coronavirus and this could potentially disrupt the supply chain and iPhone 9/SE 2 could be delayed.
If leaks are to believe, iPhone 9 was to enter production in the coming month i.e. February 2020 and a March announcement was on the table. Below is the screenshot of that tweet.
As you may be well aware, due to excessive market pressure from mid-range smartphones running Android, Apple Inc. has been facing new challenges in recent times. In the world’s biggest smartphone markets like China and India, the growth of Apple smartphones hasn’t been up to the mark.
iPhone XR in 2018 and iPhone 11 in 2019 did help, but the mid-range smartphones are showing a cut-throat competition. Thus Apple decided to launch a budget-friendly iPhone 9 (or SE 2), which will have iPhone 8’s design, with the internals of the iPhone 11 series.
