Since the inception, Realme is known for delivering bang-for-the-buck smartphones for their ever expanding consumer base. Moreover, they are pretty sincere in terms of delivering regular software updates to their entire product portfolio too!
Being an offshoot of OPPO and having close connection with OnePlus and Vivo, the Chinese OEM has the advantage to exploit the humongous R&D facility of BBK Electronics. For this exact reason, we can spot various design languages in Realme phones.
Realme 1, which is nothing but a rebranded OPPO F7 Youth, features a unique diamond-cut rear panel. But the front view is rather dated – large bezels and typical legacy style selfie camera placement. However, that’s not the only pattern you can find in other phones.
Be it old-school notch (example: Realme C1) or miniaturized waterdrop-esque housing (example: Realme 3 Pro), you can get them all! Fan of virtually bezel less display and motorized front camera? No need to worry, as Realme X has you covered.
Earlier this week, OPPO demonstrated a dual-edge curved screen, dubbed as “Waterfall Display”. With the rise of under display sensors, we should soon see such phones in the market as the bezel literally becomes useless with time.
As part of this evolution, the smartphone community also experienced the ‘punch hole’ style. Popularized by Samsung via their Galaxy S10 lineup, the tech eliminates the front camera housing by placing it underneath the display and exposing a hole on the panel.
It seems that Realme is planning to release a new phone (or multiple phones) with this hole punch display, as the company is currently evaluating the option by collecting feedback from their users.
The demo render of this unreleased lineup, as shown in the questionnaire, can be found below:
The participators in the survey are asked to choose between option A (single punch hole screen with single front camera) and option B (double punch hole screen with main front camera along with a wide angle front camera).
According to Realme:
This is a survey for screen preference, survey result will be forwarded to our Product Strategy Team to optimize screens for future products. To better improve phone performance, we sincerely invite you to participate in this survey.
Interestingly, the wallpaper in the render is quite similar to a stock wallpaper of Galaxy S10 lineup. The punch hole design, especially the dual one, is largely indistinguishable too. The survey is also asking about the opinion on the price difference between these two configs.
Sounds interesting? Don’t forget to cast your vote and send your inputs to Realme. For further information, take a look at the official survey thread.
