New updates are being added at the bottom of this story…….

Original story (published on October 31, 2019) follows:

Samsung, the Korean smartphone giant, is not known for the speedy delivery of updates. Though the OEM has tried to improve on this front, yet it has a lot of catch ups to do.

We are approaching November and there are a lot of Samsung devices still stuck with the older security updates. But, in a recent development, AT&T has pushed the October security update for the Galaxy S10.

Notably, the update also tags along with the Galaxy Note 10 camera-specific features for the S10. Besides, the 3 major U.S. carriers namely, T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon have already pushed similar updates for the Galaxy S10.

However, one important point to note is that all these major U.S. carriers have received BSIO build while the update received for the AT&T variant of the Galaxy S10 is BSIP. The September update for AT&T Galaxy S10 carried the build number ASI6, which was slightly out of the track as well.

This update is arriving for the entire Galaxy S10 family that includes S10e, S10, S10+. Talking about the update, it carries the baseband version G97xUSQU2BSIP and weighs in about 741.04 MB in size.

Moreover, the update bumps the security patch level to October 2019, albeit Exynos variants are already getting the November patch. Below is the screenshot of the update prompt:

Coming to the features, the update brings in Live Focus video (front and rear), AR Doodle (front and rear), front camera Night Mode and Samsung DeX for PC. Live focus video lets you capture the bokeh effect video as you would see on a high-end DSLR camera.

With the AR Doodle feature, you can create doodles and draw around you in realtime. And Samsung DeX lets you wirelessly connect your Galaxy device to your PC. This comes handy for reviewing notifications, photos etc. received on your phone directly on your PC.

But, going through the discussions on Reddit about this update, users have pointed out that this update also brings in some UI tweaks for stock messaging app and Samsung Pass as well.

Matter of fact, the official AT&T update tracker for Galaxy S10 is not yet updated and is still stuck with the September security patch.

If you have not received the update on your device then, you head to Settings>>Software update>>Download and install to check for the update manually.

Happy installing!

Update (November 1)

AT&T has updated their tracker, and now we know they bundled Advanced Messaging v2 with this update.

What’s new: Advanced Messaging v2

FYI, Galaxy S8 and Note 8 also got this feature via their latest update from AT&T.
