This story is being continuously updated…. New updates are being added at the bottom…..
Original story (published on March 23) follows:
It is always good to have new updates knocking the doors of your mobile phones. Though it is the firmware updates that get the users excited, security updates also should not be ignored.
These security patches are meant to fix the vulnerabilities on your phones to keep your device secure. And Taiwanese smartphone OEM, Asus has now rolled out the March security update for its Asus ZenFone Max M2 handset.
Point to note is that the update is still based on Android 9 Pie and is purely incremental in nature. This also hints that the Android 10 update might not arrive on the ZenFone Max M2, anytime soon.
Talking about the update, it is rolling out globally and comes with the version number V16.2018.2003.60. The OTA weighs in around 134.8 MB in size.
Here is the complete changelog and official announcement of the incremental update:
【Release Note】
1. 2020-3 Google security patch updated
Similar to this, the ZenFone Max Pro M1 and M2 have previously picked up the Pie-based February patchset, keeping Android 10 out of the picture.
Then came into play, the advantage of Android being an open-source platform. Although the official firmware update is not yet cooked, users of Android can still experience the Android 10 OS via the custom ROMs.
Unofficial LineageOS 17.1 custom ROM based on Android 10 is now available for both the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1 and Pro M2 smartphones.
In similar lines, we might soon see custom ROMs extending the Android 10 support for the ZenFone Max M2, before the official Android 10 update arrives. We will keep you posted on this front.
