Asus is one of the most popular names in the budget smartphone segment thanks to the likes of ZenFone Max Pro M2 and its predecessor, the Max Pro M1, but this doesn’t mean it has no representatives in the flagship segment as well.

This 2019, the Taiwanese company sent out the ZenFone 6 (known as Asus 6z in India) to battle against the likes of Samsung Galaxy S10, Huawei P30 Pro, OnePlus 7 Pro, and many other great Android smartphones in the flagship market and truth be told, the Asus 6Z is doing just fine.

The ZenFone 6 stands out with its unique camera design that flips the main camera into a selfie shooter, promising the same quality of photography whether taking shots away from you or selfies.

The massive 5000mAh battery inside the Asus 6z also makes it stand out in a crowded market filled with quite pricey propositions. However, not even the attractive pricing has been able to save Asus from the unhappy users of the phone experiencing some annoying issues.

I got my Zenfone 6 today, and I really like it, but there is one thing that probably makes me return it. The display is flickering when it‘s set to really low brightness, I think its the backlight. I‘m not sure if it’s broken or not. So, am I the only one with a flickering display?

The above statement is one of the many that started popping up a few weeks ago. At the time, some Asus ZenFone 6 owners started noticing a display flickering issue on the 6.4-inch 1080p LCD panel when the setting is at extremely low brightness.

Since we first reported about the Asus 6z screen flickering issue, the device has received several software updates but none of them has been able to fix this annoying bug. However, there is still hope, at least if what one Asus moderator says is to be believed.

Through the official ZenTalk forums, an Asus moderator has responded to a concerned ZenFone 6 user who wanted to know if and when the screen flickering issue would be fixed via a software update. Apparently, the company is expecting to fix this issue via an update coming soon.

It’s not known what “soon” represents in this case, but I’d want to believe its anywhere between days and weeks. Granted, this issue could be addressed in the upcoming ZenFone 6 software update probably with September security patches, but this is just a hunch.

We will update this post when Asus begins rolling out the bug-fixing update for the screen flickering issue, but until then, feel free to check out this dedicated section for the more Asus-related coverage.
