Asus is rolling out a new ZenFone 6 software update with bug fixes and performance improvements to the initial Android 10 build that arrived earlier this week.

The Taiwanese company started rolling out the stable Android 10 update to the device that is known in India as Asus 6Z a few days ago, ending weeks of curiosity as to when the OS would be released.

As part of the update, ZenFone 6 users can now enjoy Android 10 features such as system-wide dark mode, gestures for navigation, and so on. Also part of the update is something unwanted – a bug that trips SafetyNet and Google Play Protect, meaning Google Pay users cannot enjoy the service.

Asus is expected to push a software update to address the Play Protect issue, but we don’t know when it will arrive. As you wait for the update, the company has another bug-fixing up for grabs as build number 17.1810.1910.68.

The initial ZenFone 6 Android 10 update came as version 17.1810.1910.63 and looking at the new version, there shouldn’t be huge changes to expect. In the changelog, Asus mentions improved sound quality alongside optimizations to the system update mechanism and stability.

System update

– Optimized the mechanism of system update.
– Optimized system stability.

Audio

– Improved sound quality.

The incoming update is airborne and is, of course, targeting those who already picked up the early version of Android 10. The download file for manual installation is now available at the moment, so you don’t have to wait for the OTA to arrive.

OTA updates can take several days to hit units, so you’ll have to be patient as you wait. Speaking of patience, those on the older ZenFone 5Z will have to wait even longer to receive their Android 10 update.
