Carrier-specific models usually get software or system updates a bit late compared to the unlocked variants of the smartphone. However, with LG-branded phones, this is not the case.
In fact, the Korean company is known for pushing out updates way later than any other major smartphone maker. This means, its carrier-specific models get software updates even later. Something similar is happening with the last year’s LG Stylo models.
A couple of weeks back, we reported that the LG Stylo 4 got the Android 9 Pie update, along with another LG device Q7 Plus on some US based wireless carriers.
Now, the Android Pie (9.0) update is finally rolling out for the LG Stylo 4+ from AT&T. The handset came out in September last year and is getting the update almost a year late.
What will even be more frustrating for the Stylo 4+ users is that they are getting Android 9 at a time when most Android phones are enjoying the Android 10. Nevertheless, it is never too late. So, here are more details about the update:
The update is available over-the-air (OTA) and comes with a software version Q710WA20d (Build number: PKQ1.190522.001). Since it is an OTA update, you will automatically receive it on your device. Considering the update was rolled last week, it should be available to all now.
If not, you can search it manually as well. To do so, go to Settings > General > Software update > Check for updates. Hopefully, the Android 9 update will show for you now. If not, contact the carrier immediately.
Once the update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. The file size is over 1.2GB, so it is recommended that you connect to Wi-Fi to download the update. Also, make sure your device is fully charged as it may take some time to complete the process.
Along with the Android 9.0 Pie, the LG Stylo 4+ also received the September 2019 security update. When compared to the Android update, this security patch appears quite new. Many devices, however, have already got the November 2019 security patch.
Talking of AT&T and LG Stylo 4+, it is a stylus-equipped phone and was seen as a cheaper alternative to Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9. The LG Stylo 4+ was an improvement over the regular Stylo 4 (unlocked variant).
The primary difference between the two is that the former is dust and water-resistant, while Stylo 4 doesn’t offer such protection. Another difference is that the Stylo 4+ features a 16 MP rear camera, while the regular model has a 13 MP rear camera.
Apart from these differences, the two phones feature a 6.2-inch display with 1080 x 2160 pixels and are powered by Snapdragon 450 processor. Other specifications include a fingerprint scanner, 3300 mAh battery, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage space.
The Stylo 4+ is available for $300 while the regular Stylo 4 can be purchased for $200 from Best Buy.
