Original story (from October 1) follows:

Smart displays are the gadgets of the present. The market for smart displays is also seeing some growth and Lenovo is one of the respected and known brands in this segment.

In a report by Voicebot.ai, the U.S. Smart Display user base grew by 558% in 2018, which is a staggering figure. Also, 13.2% of smart speaker users have adopted the Smart Display in the U.S in January 2019. According to Bob Naughton, CRO of Voicify :

The exponential growth of this device isn’t surprising.  As humans, we rarely use a single modality when communicating with each other and we expect the same from our devices and technologies.

Moreover, the Amazon Alexa powered smart displays in the U.S. captured 67% of the market share while the Google Assistant-powered smart displays stood at 33%.

Assistant-powered screens are now slowly becoming popular and Lenovo’s lineup in the smart display segment is quite nice. However, according to some users, the Lenovo smart displays face a bug that puts the display in a loop while updating.

Moreover, this bug is a severe issue as there are quite a large number of users experiencing this boot loop issue on their Lenovo smart displays. Due to this issue, several users are unable to complete the update because the update keeps starting again.

Take a look at what some users have to say:

There are some users who have reported that resetting the display has solved the problem on their devices. Other users have reported that the display goes back to normal after a few days. However, not everyone has been lucky with this solution.

Lenovo has classified this issue as the top priority and it seems that Google has already started working on the fix. Hopefully the bugfix update will soon be rolled out for the Lenovo Smart Displays.

Reportedly, even the brand new devices are facing a similar issue and it seems likely that a bug in the software is causing the issue. The company is working on this and will soon provide the solution via an update.

Let us know in the comments below if you are also facing such an issue on your Lenovo smart display and whether you were able to fix the issue with some other workaround.

Update (October 10)

Lenovo has finally fixed this issue. Lenovo had said:

The loop has been resolved across all locales and devices.

Please note that your devices will now be receiving a software update, no additional actions required from you guys as it will install automatically. Please make sure your device is plugged in so that you can receive the update.
