WiFi calling services were launched recently by Airtel and Jio in several Indian cities. Though a lot of smartphone brands support the VoWiFi feature, there was some OEM’s smartphone that was missing out.
Quite a few Redmi phones were not listed under either of the networks compatible mobiles list. But in a recent development, Xiaomi has made the WiFi calling feature available for 7 Redmi phones.
Meaning, now you can make use of the VoWiFi calling feature on the Airtel and Jio mobile networks. In a recent tweet, Redmi India officially announced that 7 Redmi Phones are now getting VoWiFi support.

The Redmi phones that now support the VoWiFi feature are Redmi K20, K20 Pro, Redmi 7, 7A, Redmi Note 7 Pro, Note 8 Pro, and Redmi Y3.
However, note that except Redmi Note 8 Pro, all the other devices support VoWiFi calling feature on both Airtel and Jio mobile networks. While Redmi Note 8 Pro is limited to Jio. In fact, Redmi has also acknowledged the fact that the regular Redmi Note 8 will get it soon.
Moreover, when we checked for the compatible devices list for using the VoWiFi feature on both Jio and Airtel network’s official website, it turns out that only Airtel has populated the list officially:
In fact, Jio is yet to update its list of Xiaomi supported phones and the phones that are as of now listed are Poco F1, Redmi K20, and Redmi K20 Pro.
Similarly, other devices are also expected to soon receive the WiFi calling (VoWiFi) support by Redmi. We will have to wait and watch for further developments in this regard.
