OnePlus has been working on its Android 12-based OxygenOS 12 update which first surfaced as Developer Preview 1 for the OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro.
Since Android 12 release is still a bit far, OEMs like OnePlus have plenty of time to fine tune their OS updates with new features and improvements.
OnePlus held its Open Ears Forum event recently and its focus was on AOD (Always On Display) and Gallery improvements.
The OEM has now said that a new AOD feature, more Canvas AOD options, and a revamped Gallery app are in the works.
However, OnePlus refrained from delving deeper into the details regarding these enhancements or features.
It is possible that the OEM may be planning to bring these features with its Android 12-based OxygenOS 12 update.
Since OxygenOS 12 (Android 12) will be a major OS update, it would be only natural if it comes out with the features in question.
On the other hand, OnePlus might also roll out these features to devices that have not yet received AOD and OxygenOS 11 (Android 11).
Among them, the OnePlus 7 series devices which are yet to get the AOD feature and OnePlus 6 and 6T which are yet to bag the stable Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 update.
However, all this is still based on speculation until the OEM decides to shed more light on the matter.
Hopefully, OnePlus provides more clarity in the near future as to whether the aforementioned features or enhancements will come along with its Android 12 update or not.
That said, we will keep tracking the development of Android 12 and will report back when new information becomes available.
