COD Black Ops Cold War "Game session no longer available" error or frequent disconnections trouble players

Over the past couple of years, we have seen a general shift from offline games to multiplayer titles over the internet. Popular gaming consoles like Xbox and PlayStation also getting internet connectivity has no doubt enabled this further.

One of the most popular action games is Call of Duty. Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War is a 2020 first-person shooter video game developed by Treyarch and Raven Software and published by Activision.

For as popular as this title is, it is not immune to issues that often afflict online video games. Now players of Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War are a pretty irate bunch owing to a few annoying issues.

According to players of this version of Call of Duty, they’re facing a lot of disconnections with a section of them having to deal with errors notifying them that the Game session is no longer available.

I’m getting frequently disconnected from my matches and from the COD servers. Either “Game session not available” or the “You have been disconnected from Call of Duty servers.” I don’t have any error codes but is anyone else also having problems today? The most I’m doing is watching a show in the background which I usually do.

I haven’t been able to complete a match yet (on PC) before I receive an error message that I’ve been disconnected from the server and I’m re-directed to my desktop. So far this has happened twice in a row in the last 10 minutes.

According to affected users, Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War servers seems to be kicking out players randomly by terminating their gaming sessions or disconnecting them without apparent cause.

This issue seems to affect players in both individual and multiplayer modes and has been reported by players on various gaming platforms including PC, Xbox Series X, and more.

I loaded into the game for the first time today and all of a sudden it quit in the middle of my first match and said “Game session no longer available” so I went looked for another match and it never loaded into one. I restarted my console, found a match right away and it did the same exact thing and now here I am stuck waiting in a lobby. This has never happened before. Anyone else have this happen?

At the time of writing, there doesn’t seem to be a working solution to this Call of Duty disconnections issue or an official acknowledgment from Activision.

However, owing to just how widespread this issue appears to be, chances are that it won’t be long before the company comes out to inform the players of what is causing this issue or issue an official fix.
