OnePlus has been pretty busy over the past couple of weeks, a stack contrast from what we saw from the company in the months following the release of OxygenOS 11 for the OnePlus 8 series.

In the past few weeks, we have seen the subsequent Open Beta build for the OnePlus Nord, and now, users of the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T series of devices have something to look forward to this weekend.

This, as the company has just released the second OxygenOS 11 (Android 11) Open Beta for their devices. And boy does this update sweeten the Android 11 experience!

Of course, anyone that installed the Open Beta on their OnePlus 7 or OnePlus 7T device knew that they were signing up for some level of hurt in terms of bugs.

Perhaps one of the most painful ommissions from the initial Open Beta was that of the much-awaited Always-on-Display feature. The company promptly notified users that this would be added back.

While many though this would be added in the stable release, OnePlus pulled a fast one and the changelog for this Open Beta notes that this has been added back….sort of. Below is the changelog.

This Always-on ambient display feature is reportedly only available on the OnePlus 7 Pro & 7T Pro for now. To access it, users will need to navigate to Settings – Utilities – OnePlus Laboratory – Always-on ambient display.

Also worth noting is that this release is jam-packed with fixes and optimizations, a clear indication that OnePlus has been listening to users and their problems.

We can only hope to see OnePlus keeping this up and ironing out as many bugs and issues as possible as this will add up to a more refined and stable release.

We still don’t know when OnePlus plans to roll out the stable Android 11-based OxygenOS 11 to the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T devices but progress like this could be an indication that it won’t be too long.
