Earlier this week, HDM owned Nokia finally pushed the Android 10 update to the Nokia 5.1 devices, bringing a smile on the faces of the device owners who were waiting for long. Android 10 carried all the sturdy Android 10 features along with the April Security patch.
It came to light later that the Nokia 5.1 Plus Android 10 update has also activated the call recording feature, something that Nokia phones have been getting after the Android 10 upgrade.
To recall quickly, at the beginning of the year, we highlighted that Nokia users were not getting VoWiFi even after Android 10 as the OEM wasn’t listed till then.
Moving on we now have the confirmation that the update also enabled VoWifi (or WiFi calling) for Airtel and Reliance Jio users in India. FYI, other Nokia devices that received the VoWifi so far are – Nokia 7.1, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 8.1 & 6.1 Plus, Nokia 7.2, and Nokia 3.1 Plus respectively.
There are multiple devices on both networks (Jio & Airtel networks) that are eligible for VoWifi (or WiFi calling). Here is the list:
Reliance Jio allows VoWifi on the following 11 Nokia smartphones:
Nokia 9 PureView, Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 8.1, Nokia 7.2, Nokia 7.1, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6.2, Nokia 6.1 Plus, Nokia 5.1 Plus, Nokia 3.1 Plus and Nokia 6.1.
Airtel supports VoWifi on these 13 devices: Nokia 9 PureView, Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 8.1, Nokia 7.1, Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6.1 Plus, Nokia 5.1 Plus, Nokia 3.1 Plus, Nokia 6.1, Nokia 3.2, Nokia 4.2, Nokia 4.2 DS and Nokia 7.2.
We’ll keep a close eye on other Nokia devices that will get VoWiFi support in the future. For now, the Nokia 5.1 Plus users can enjoy this functionality on their devices.
