Motorola Moto Z3 Play Android 10 update still far with March patch hitting devices

As we start the second quarter of 2020, one thing is clear. A lot of devices that were eligible for Android 10 have already been updated by their respective OEMs. The few remaining devices have its users on edge, and impatient.

One of the devices is the Motorola Moto Z3. Users of this device have been a worried lot as their wait for an Android 10 build has frequently been shattered when the devices bagged monthly security patch after security patch when all these users want is an Android 10 update.

All these disappointments started when the device, along with Moto One Zoom bagged the February Android security patch update, at a time when users were really hoping for an Android 10 build. You can read more about that here.

The same train of disappointment rolled on and by the time Sprint was getting around to rolling out the January security patch update in late February, users’ anticipation for Android 10 was really high and the heartbreak was palpable.

According to recent reports, the same trail of disappointments is following the Moto Z3 users still as Android 10 is still nowhere to be found for this device. Instead, the device is bagging yet another Android security patch update.

This update which brings the software version running on this device to PPWS29.131-27-1-22, also packs the 1st March 2020 Android security patch level.

As it stands, there is still no official word as to when exactly Android 10 will be available for this device. That said, with the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic and its effects on many sectors, and economies, chances are that this update might be delated.

That said, popular after-market custom Android firmware maker, Lineage OS (formerly CyanogenMod) does have a stable build of Android 10 available for the Motorola Moto Z3. The unofficial LineageOS 17 could be just what Motorola Moto Z3 are looking for. Users can flash this custom ROM on their device and enjoy Android 10 goodness before Motorola gets around to building Android 10 for their devices.
