Huawei isn’t done rolling out the stable EMUI 10 update based on Android 10 to its devices. For the company’s Honor devices, the story is just about the same with respect to Magic UI 3.0 update, which is also based on Android 10.
But with the company’s archrival, Samsung, already making moves in the software arena with One UI 2.1 updates to its flagship devices that had already received Android 10 updates alongside One UI 2.0, Huawei isn’t going to sit back and watch.
Instead, the troubled Chinese vendor is now lining up another software overhaul of its own, this time aimed at bumping the in-house EMUI skin to version 10.1, up from the current version 10.0.
As of this writing, Huawei has officially announced the internal beta recruitment for at least 19 smartphones into the new EMUI 10.1 and Magic UI 3.1 programs. The recruitment period ends on April 6.
The EMUI 10.1 update beta program welcomes devices such as Huawei P30, P30 Pro, Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 RS Porsche Design, Mate 20 X (4G), Nova 6, Nova 6 5G, Nova 6 SE, Honor 9X, Honor 9X Pro, MatePad Pro, MediaPad M6 (8.4-inch), MediaPad M6 Turbo Edition, and MediaPad M6 (10.8-inch).
As far as the Magic UI 3.1 beta update is concerned, eligible handsets include the Honor V30, Honor V30 Pro, Honor 20, Honor 20 Pro, Honor V20 (View 20), and Honor Magic 2.
Of course, your device must meet certain conditions in order to be allowed into either program. For users of the Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20 RS, you must be on EMUI 10.0.0.188 in order to be eligible.
Mate 20 X owners must be on EMUI 10.0.0.195 while Nova 6 and Nova 6 5G must be on EMUI 10.0.1.173. The Nova 6 SE, on the other hand, needs to be on EMUI 10.0.1.160 in order to get into the EMUI 10.1 update program.
As far as the Honor 9X and 9X Pro are concerned, you must be on EMUI 10.0.1.120 whereas owners of the MatePad Pro must be on EMUI 10.0.1.165. For the 8.4-inch and Turbo Edition MediaPad M6 variants, you need to be on EMUI 10.0.0.220 while the 10.8-inch model needs EMUI 10.0.0.223.
For those looking forward to Magic UI 3.1 beta testing, the Honor V30 should be on Magic UI 3.0.1.173 while the V30 Pro on version 3.0.1.170. If you have the Honor 20/Pro, you must have software version 10.0.0.190 pre-installed before submitting your interest.
As for the Honor V20 (View 20) and Honor Magic 2, you’ll need either version 10.0.0.189 or 10.0.0.190 in order to merit the selection. Speaking of selection, the lucky Huawei P30 and Mate 30 series owners will be in line to get their EMUI 10.1 beta updates in mid-April.
The likes of Huawei Mate X, Mate Xs, Mate 20 X 5G, Enjoy 10S and Honor 20 Youth Edition should join the party in late April 2020. In either case, a total of 2,000 slots will be available, so be sure to submit your interest sooner than later to stand a chance.
Unlike the rest of the devices, though, the Honor 9X and Honor 9X Pro will only recruit internal beta testers without the log version.
