Honor Play users, hold your horses! Because, as per a recent development, the VoWiFi (WiFi Calling) support for the handset will now be arriving by the second week of April.
Recently, we documented a post where a new update was lined up by Huawei, claiming to bring the VoWiFi feature on the device with the March 2020 update, which in reality does not seem to be the case.
Notably, the Honor Play runs on February 2020 security patchset and it has already been confirmed officially that the device will not be getting the EMUI 10 (Android 10) update, even though several users took to Change.org to sign petitions to make the EMUI 10 (Android 10) update available for the device.
Besides, thousands of users also came out and signed the petition for getting the bootloader unlock support, but that also went down in vain as the Honor Play units won’t get the bootloader unlock support because the company has denied the request and terminated the application.
The Chinese OEM, Huawei found a pretty weird solution to calm the frustrated users. The company started offering disappointed Honor Play users an Amazon Voucher worth INR 500 ($7) to make up for the no EMUI 10.
Cut to now, going by the official statement by Honor on the community platform, the VoWiFi feature is under development and is slated to arrive on the devices by the second week of April.
Thank you for reaching out to us. We would like to inform you that VoWiFi calling features is under development and expected to be released tentatively by 2nd week of April’20. We request you to kindly stay tuned to our official pages or Support (HiCare) App for more information. We appreciate your understanding and patience.

On the other hand, some good news is up for the Honor 9X users as the OEM has made the VoWiFi update available for the units. Notably, the Honor 9X now joins the list of devices alongside Honor 8X, and Honor 10 Lite, which has received the WiFi Calling update.
Back in the previous month, it came to light that this feature was under development for the device and later it was expected to arrive with the February patch.
And now the feature is making its way with an OTA that bears the version number V10.0.0.188 and weighs in around 295 MB in size. This new update also packs in the February 2020 security patchset.
The OTA will be arriving in batches and will take some time in hitting all the units. If you have not yet received the notification, then you can head over to settings for manually checking for it.
