[Updated] Xiaomi Mi CC9e & Redmi Note 8 Android 10 update arrives in the next MIUI closed beta (MIUI 12?)

Xiaomi might be among the first non-Google vendors to make Android 10 available to some of its flagship phones, beta or stable. However, owing to the sheer number of devices it pumps into the market annually, the company is still expected to continue rolling out the OS well into Q3 2020.

Some of the devices that are in line to pick up the OS at around this time, so it seems, are the Redmi Note 8 and the China-centric Mi CC9e, the latter arriving on the global scene as the Mi A3.

For keen followers, you’ll know that the Mi A3 already received an update to Android 10, but for some reason, the company has recently started pushing a Pie-based update to the device, which is effectively a downgrade.

In China, where the device is sold as the Mi CC9e, an update to Android 10 has yet to be released. Matter of fact, the company, while announcing the release of MIUI 11 beta 20.3.26, has recently revealed that this will be the last Pie-based update for the device.

The story is also the same as far as the Redmi Note 8 is concerned, where the upcoming beta 20.3.26 will be the last Pie-based software update the device gets from Xiaomi. This had already been hinted at in our recent coverage.

So, what does it mean for the duo? It means that the next MIUI beta version will bring the Mi CC9e and Redmi Note 8 Android 10 update, at least in China. What’s even more interesting is that this beta could also bring MIUI 12 to the devices, but this is just a hunch.

FYI, after this week, Xiaomi will stop rolling out MIUI 11 beta updates. The development will reportedly be suspended for an unknown period and some sections believe when the beta program resumes, MIUI 12 will be the new order of the day.
