Original story (from March 11, 2020) follows:
To expect Android One devices to receive OS upgrades alongside the Google Pixels would be an overstatement. But no single Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite owner expected to receive the update to Android 10 six months after the Pixels picked up the same OS.
Essentially, Android One is supposed to give its users a glimpse of the other side of stock Android and the little benefits associated with it, among them timely software updates.
But for the most part, this hasn’t been the case with Xiaomi’s line of Android One devices, all the way from the Mi A1 to the latest Mi A3. Matter of fact, all four devices have had terrible times immediately after receiving major OS upgrades.
It happened with the recent Android 10 update for the Mi A2 and Mi A3, where Xiaomi first released updates that ended up doing more damage than good to early adopters. To mitigate this, the company paused, fixed, and re-released a more stable version for the Mi A2.
As for the Mi A3, Xiaomi support says the patched-up version should be expected by the end of this month, but of course, you can never be sure with software update timelines, especially one involving fixing bugs in a major OS upgrade.
As it stands, the Mi A2 Lite Android 10 update is going through the same. Following the official rollout a few days ago, multiple people reported the firmware was bricking their devices by sending them into bootloop.
Xiaomi had pushed the update to a small number and following the growing reports, the company has decided to pull the Mi A2 Lite Android 10 update to prevent more damage. If you ever wondered why software updates are rolled out in batches, well, there you have it!
Yep they’ve pulled the update to fix the bricking/bootlooping of phones

Apparently, some had even started downloading the update, but it disappears after restarting the phone, reverting to Android Pie as the latest OS available.
The updated just got pulled back. I was in a process of downloading it and then it stopped and said that I am on the latest version. So Xiaomi noticed it.

When asked about the expected availability, a forum moderator says the patched-up version will only be released “as and when it’s available”, although he had earlier stated that Mi A2 Lite owners should “wait for the upcoming update” to address the bugs.
The Chinese company has since acknowledged the issue and is even offering a workaround that involves reverting to the other partition and simply waiting for another update to come around. We have the full guide here.
