Xiaomi rolled out the beta version of Android 10 to the Mi 8 Lite in China, where the device goes by the name Mi 8 Youth, in early December 2019.
At the time, the device had already picked up an update to MIUI 11, which meant the first Mi 8 Lite Android 10 beta update was also spiced with MIUI 11 flavor.
Fast-forward to today, more than three months down the line, the Chinese vendor is now confident that all the effort directed towards the Mi 8 Lite Android 10 update has paid.
As a result, the company has commenced rolling out the stable version of the new OS to the Mi 8 Lite, but only for the China MIUI 11 ROM. Even with the global variant missing out on this round, the fact that the OS is out means the wait is almost over.
The update is arriving as MIUI 11.0.1.0.QDTCNXM and weighs in at 2.1GB, so be sure to connect to a strong Wi-Fi network in order to upgrade.
Like any other software update, the Mi 8 Lite will be receiving the incoming update over the air (OTA). This means some will receive it ahead of others, so stay cool as you wait.
Unfortunately, the download link is still unavailable for now. Another bit of unfortunate news is that even though the new update bumps the base OS to the latest stable version available, you still get two months old security patches from January 2020.
The Mi 8 Lite becomes the latest in the Mi 8 family to pick up the update to Android 10, with the OS already available for the Mi 8, Mi 8 Pro and even the Mi 8 SE. Those of you who don’t wish to wait can grab the update by using the following download link:
