Xiaomi recently started rolling out the stable Android 10 update to the Mi 9 Lite in its home country of China, where the device goes by the Mi CC9 moniker.
As part of the update, China’s Mi 9 Lite variant also received a new February 2020 security patch as well as a fix for the annoying issue where data usage warning appeared multiple times. Unfortunately, though, the global Mi 9 Lite Android 10 update is still missing in action.
Of course, with the Mi CC9 now receiving the new OS, it won’t be long before its global counterpart picks up the same update. In readiness for the arrival of Android 10, Xiaomi recently released an updated MIUI 11 firmware for the Mi 9 Lite in Europe.
The update installed an updated January 2020 security patch with a few bug fixes here and there, but going by developing reports, it appears that it also carried along a pretty annoying bug.
After installing MIUI 11.3.9.0.PFCEUXM, several Mi 9 Lite owners say they are experiencing issues with the Netflix app. Apparently, the app turns black, meaning there is no video playback, but for some reason, audio stays normal.
Netflix plays sound and subs at videos but the screen is black after update to miui 11.3.9 global mi 9 lite.

The fact that the MIUI 11.3.9.0 update has been out for only a few days explains why cases of the Mi 9 Lite Netflix black screen issue are still scarce. Perhaps the best you can do to avoid the issue is to stick to the current firmware that plays nicely with the Netflix app.
For those who had already installed the new firmware, it’s quite unfortunate for you guys. On the brighter side, the company is reportedly aware of this issue and in fact, the developers are already looking into it with the aim of addressing it very soon.
We are analyzing this issue and will resolve it as soon as possible. We apologize for the inconvenience.
How soon Xiaomi plans to release the bug-fixing update remains unclear, but we hope it doesn’t take ages. Maybe Xiaomi may even bundle it with the anticipated update to Android 10 in the coming weeks. At this point, your guess is as good as ours.
