Realme 5 Pro is known as Realme Q back in the company’s home country of China. The two devices have the same design, hardware specs, and features, but the software is slightly tweaked on the Q to suit the local market.
The tweaks in the Realme 5 Pro/Realme Q software versions mean that the duo hardly picks up new updates at the same time, but the interval is usually a week or two.
A week ago, we got wind that the Realme 5 Pro Realme UI update would hit the beta channel in China on Valentine’s Day. This wasn’t entirely new, though, because the roadmap was already known to us. Only the specific date wasn’t.
Although the Realme UI firmware is not available right away, owners of the Chinese variant – Realme Q – can now submit their interest to try the Android 10-based update from today until February 23.
You are warned that this particular Realme UI update will be buggy and you won’t be able to roll back to the stable Android Pie firmware that worked fine. So be sure that you really want this, otherwise, wait for the stable version.
Only 2,000 units of the Realme Q will be allowed into the program. Successful applicants will be notified via SMS on February 26 followed by an OTA update to Android 10 beta beginning February 27.
