OnePlus has a new software update for the OnePlus 7 Pro arriving as OxygenOS Open Beta 9. More than a month since the previous Open Beta 8 rolled out, most people expected significant changes, including the most up-to-date security patch.
Owners of both OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro had started growing frustrated at the lack of software updates, and this wasn’t just the beta testers, but also those on the stable version.
As noted, it has taken the latest OnePlus 7 Pro Open Beta 9 more than a month to take the place of the outgoing Open Beta 8. On the other hand, the last time the stable channel picked up an update was back in mid-December and this included November security patches.
Granted, the incoming update should be a relief for many, even if it’s not what most expected. Below is what OnePlus says to have included in the update led by the new Zen Mode v1.5.0:
System
– Enhanced one-hand usage for dialer app
– Optimized network for a better gaming experience
– Updated Android security patch to 2020.01
– Improved system stability and fixed general bugs
Zen Mode V1.5.0
– Supported OnePlus Account login, synchronization of badges and historical data
Weather
– Fixed the weather app crashing issue

No, you don’t get the latest February patch as part of the new update, but the older January patches. While the changelog mentions enhanced one-hand usage for the dialer app, those who have received the update have other things to say.
As if not enough, the incoming OnePlus 7 Pro Open Beta 9 update allegedly removes the option to force dark mode from the Developer options, which is pretty much absurd.
the one handed option removed although stated as improved on dialer. feature not active after updating on the phone. can’t find in gesture menu

DO NOT UPDATE THIS BETA BUILD…One hand mode removed, override force dark mode removed.
Also was expecting some camera updates which was talked about after the meetups but there are none. So..eh ok!

If you had been enjoying the one-hand mode on Open Beta 8 as well as the ability to force dark mode via the Developer options, you better stay off the incoming Open Beta 9.
For now, though, we still don’t have the download link for manual installation, so you’ll have to wait for the OTA download notification if interested in the update. Also, it’s worth noting that the standard OnePlus 7 hasn’t received its update yet, but it should get it pretty soon.
