Samsung released the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge in March 2016. That’s four years ago, but the duo recently picked up its latest software update that brought about January 2020 security patches.
Essentially, Samsung has provided four years of software support to the Galaxy S7 family and from the look of things, this is set to repeat for newer flagships, including the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8.
The two came out in 2017 and are out of favor as far as the update to Android 10 is concerned. Even so, having the older Android 9 Pie won’t stand in the way of regular security updates for both devices.
Matter of fact, Galaxy Note 8 software updates seem to have just gotten better now that the device is no longer receiving major OS upgrades. The latest February security patch, for instance, is already available for those on T-Mobile.
The Magenta carrier is pushing the OTA update as version N950USQS7DTA5 and weighs in at 173.68MB. The changelog doesn’t go beyond the updated security patch, but you can always expect a few optimization and bug-fixing touches here and there.
Also receiving the latest February 2020 security update from T-Mobile is the Galaxy S10 series. The update is arriving over the air as build number CTA3, with the OTA file weighing in at over 200MB.
The full software version on the S10e G970USQS3CTA3 while the standard S10 is getting it as version G973USQS3CTA3. For the S10+, the OTA is arriving as version G975USQS3CTA3.
OTA updates may take several days to arrive, so be patient as you wait for the download notification to arrive.
