Good news to all LG G7 ThinQ users as the company just announced plans to roll out the initial beta builds of Android 10 to the LG G7 ThinQ.

The beta is just in time for a development period that is targeting a Q1 2020 rollout of the official stable update that was promised by LG.

The last time we heard any sort of news regarding this update was back in December 2019. At the time, LG India’s official Twitter handle confirmed that the LG G7 ThinQ was slated to receive the Android 10 update in Q1 of 2020.

LG now confirms that it plans to roll out the first beta sometime next week.

LG Electronics will launch the LG OS Preview Program next week on its G7 ThinQ to update Google’s latesy operating system, Android 10. The OS Preview program for G7 ThinQ is Android 10 this year following Android 9.0 Pie in January last year.

For users that are keen to be part of this beta program, LG says that these users can apply using the Quick Help app that comes pre-installed on many LG devices.

With this program, LG hopes to gather as much feedback as possible to help the company further fine-tune the update to the LG G7 ThinQ.

LG has been a pretty important player in the smartphone industry throughout the previous decade. The company introduced the Android world to the idea of modular smartphones with the ill-feted LG G5, and the Video-centred LG V-series among many other firsts.

True, the company has since fallen into hard times, but in an unforgiving market that has decimated giants like HTC, LG isn’t doing badly off. Also, the fact that the company manages to actively develop and roll out updates to its devices is a good sign.

The LG G7 ThinQ was first unveiled back in May 2018 and was powered by the then flagship chipset, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. It comes with either 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, or 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

The device was launched running Android 8 Oreo. It has since been updated to Android 9 Pie where it currently stands. The upcoming Android 10 update could possibly be the last major update that this device will see, at least officially.
