[Now on Verizon] BREAKING: U.S. unlocked Galaxy Note 9 Android 10 update now available for everyone except T-Mobile users

Over a month down the line, the U.S. unlocked Galaxy Note 9 Android 10 update is finally rolling out widely.

The stable Note 9 One UI 2.0 update first arrived at the tail-end of December 2019, but this was meant for the Exynos model. Not long ago, the update was spotted on AT&T and Spectrum variants in the U.S. as well as its Snapdragon-powered counterpart in Brazil.

Although it’s possible to install the above Note 9 Android 10 firmware on any U.S. carrier variants, the OS is not yet available officially over the air on major carriers, something that should change in the course of this month.

With all these developments, though, it was only a matter of time before the OS started rolling out to more Snapdragon variants of the Note 9. As of this writing, the latest to join the party is the U.S. unlocked model SM-N960U1.

The device is receiving the update over the air as software version N960U1UEU3DTA5 and weighs in at over 1.9GB, tagging along January 2020 security patches.

Having just started rolling out, it may take a few days or even weeks before every owner of the U.S. unlocked Note 9 receives the download notification. However, for those with a T-Mobile SIM card in their unlocked unit, this OS isn’t coming on your way anytime soon.

We had already highlighted the reason T-Mobile’s Note 9 Android 10 update will delay, but this was unofficial. Now, we have confirmation from the One UI 2.0 beta team, stating that the stable version will take longer to arrive on the Magenta carrier.

It’s unknown how long T-Mobile will take to address the alleged network-related issues causing the delay of Android 10 update for Note 9 and possibly even S9 owners. But it has been claimed swapping SIM cards to another carrier should be able to trigger the OTA download.

So, if you have a U.S. unlocked Note 9 with a T-Mobile SIM card inside, simply insert a SIM card from another carrier in your phone, restart it and find the new firmware in the software update menu. After installing, re-insert your T-Mo SIM card and enjoy Android 10.

The U.S. unlocked Galaxy S9 and S9+ are also receiving their updates to One UI 2.0 based on Android 10. The OS is rolling out over the air as build number DTA5, the same version as the Note 9.
