[Re-released] T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S9/Note 9 Android 10 update allegedly halted due to network related issues

It took a month between the release of the Galaxy Note 9 Android 10 update and the S9 Android 10 update. But unlike the former, the latter rollout included the U.S. and Europe in the early stages.

Sure, some U.S. Note 9 owners on AT&T and Spectrum have since received the stable One UI 2.0 update, but those on other major carriers such as Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint haven’t picked up the OS.

The story is pretty much the same for Galaxy S9 owners in the U.S., where only those on Xfinity Mobile and U.S. Cellular have received the update to Android 10. But the wait is still on for major carriers.

AT&T and Verizon say the S9 will get the update this February while T-Mobile may roll out the Note 9 Android 10 update this month too. But according to fresh developments, the Magenta carrier has halted its Android 10 update due to network-related issues.

A Redditor (LTEX90) who has been quite consistent with Samsung software update info now claims T-Mobile owners of both the Galaxy Note 9 and Galaxy S9 may not receive their anticipated updates to Android 10 as scheduled.

Update has been halted for T-Mobile. T-Mobile gave us network code to enable faster data technologies that was meant for their Galaxy S/Note 10 series. They want us to disable certain network features on the Note 9s because their network is unable to handle the load. This is all I can say right now.

If LTEX90 is to be believed, T-Mobile wants Samsung to disable some network features on the Galaxy Note 9 and S9 in order to accommodate their network load, something that might not be received well.

It remains to be seen how true this is, but we still don’t expect the wait for Android 10 on either device to take ages. For those who simply can’t wait for the official OTA update, you can already install the update manually on your Note 9 or S9 handset, be it Verizon, T-Mobile or Sprint variant.

If it’s true, though, T-Mobile users might get a different build than the current one version available for both Note 9 and S9 units in the U.S. Also flashing the available U.S. build might not deliver the appropriate network performance for T-Mo users.

Going by the latest information coming from T-Mobile support, One UI 2.0/ Android 10 has been released for Galaxy S9 devices.
