[Gobal rollout] Pocophone F1 (Poco F1) Android 10 update wider (public) roll out begins

After rolling out MIUI 11 – which didn’t bring Android 10 – in the October/November time frame last year, team Poco took its sweet time to push out the latest Android OS available as of now, something which happened in the second half of January this year.

While this was definitely a big news, the roll out of what was labelled as a ‘beta stable’ build, sadly, was only restricted to Beta Testers / Mi Pilot users. Here’s how a Xiaomi forum moderator explained the situation back then:

The all new MIUI 11 Global Beta Stable v11.0.4.0.QEJMIXM based on Android 10 for POCO F1 (beryllium) is being rolled out to Beta Testers / Mi Pilot users. If you haven’t received the update yet, kindly wait for its public release. As always, this is similar to Global Beta Stable, which is released first to Beta Team members for feedback and will be followed by the Global Stable release for the general public

So that meant at least another few days of wait for the general public who has already been waiting for so long for this update. Well, the days of wait are apparently over we are now seeing reports from many Poco F1 (Pocophone F1) general/end users that they have received the update.

We first received a tip about this development through email wherein a Spanish Pocophone F1 user (thanks Daniel) confirmed their device got the update prompt. Here’s what they said:

A few hours ago, I checked for the Pocophone F1 Android 10 update and it was available, so I installed it (check screenshot). I’m from Spain, I bought my Pocophone F1 here and I am not in the beta program nor have the phone unlocked to manually install it, so the only thing I can think of is that the update is already available as a worldwide release. Just wanted you to know.

And here’s the screenshot they shared:

So you can see, the build version (MIUI 11.0.4.0.QEJMIXM) and the size of this final build (1.9GB) remain same as that in case of the ‘beta stable’. So it’s highly likely that the team Poco didn’t encounter any major issue with the initial roll out.

On a look out for more such reports, we could find multiple similar confirmations (1,2,3) from users on social media, cementing the fact that the update has indeed started rolling out more widely.

What remains to be seen, however, is when Poco officials or Poco’s web portals officially announce this public roll out. If you haven’t received the update yet, you may want to wait for sometime, and those who have already received the update are encouraged to leave a comment below.
